HBCU Impact Fest is a FREE, high-energy, full-day experience featuring panel discussions, live DJs, college & career resources, free food vendors, sponsor activations, wellness activities, and more, right in the heart of the Atlanta University Center!
HBCU Impact Fest brings together high school students, HBCU students, recent graduates, parents, educators, and community leaders to celebrate and support the future of Black excellence while connecting attendees to real opportunities toward college access, career pathways, and economic mobility.
AWAREFEST Week is produced by Student Freedom Initiative, founded and chaired by billionaire philanthropist Robert F. Smith, and centers on addressing the Black student loan debt crisis while expanding opportunity for current and future HBCU students. The Impact Fest reflects that mission by offering practical tools, information, and inspiration to help students and families navigate education and career decisions with confidence.

This powerful opening plenary is the ultimate intersection between entertainment, Black culture, and financial empowerment. This session brings parents and students together for a straight-no-chaser conversation about money, legacy, and the choices that shape financial freedom and personal harmony. MC Lyte and Dr. Lynn Richardson break down how families can stop passing down stress, silence, and debt, and start developing the strategies they’ve mastered on building successful financial and business enterprises. Attendees will leave with practical tools, clear next steps, and the mindset shift needed to build stability now and wealth later, so the legacy becomes wisdom, not debt.

Participants will leave with practical, stigma-free takeaways that position prevention as preparation, strengthen confidence to advocate for their health, and reinforce how proactive choices can support academic focus, stability, and long-term goals.
